Al-Sharaa’s Father Threatens: “We’ll Take Back The Golan Heights Sooner or Later”
Dr. Hussein al-Sharaa, the father of Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, launched a blistering attack on Israel following its strike on the Abu al-Duhur airfield, declaring that despite Damascus’s current restraint, Syria will eventually retake the Golan Heights.
Al-Sharaa, who is in his 80s, made the remarks in a Facebook post that drew widespread attention, describing Israel as Syria’s primary adversary following the revolution.
“The truth that Syrians must never forget is that our main problem is with Israel,” he wrote, accusing Israel of seeking to undermine Syria’s stability and territorial integrity for the past 80 years.
Al-Sharaa claimed that Israel has carried out approximately 1,000 airstrikes on Syrian military sites, crossed the 1974 disengagement lines, seized territory in the Mount Hermon area and established an observation post.
“The goal is clear: Israel does not want a stable Syria,” he wrote.
Al-Sharaa said Damascus is currently refraining from a military response due to international considerations, but warned that its restraint should not be mistaken for an abandonment of its territorial claims.
“The Syrian people can establish fighting forces within days in numbers you cannot comprehend. The enemy must know that we have occupied land called the Golan Heights, and we will take it back — sooner or later.”
Hussein al-Sharaa, who was associated with the Nasserist movement in his youth and later went into exile following the rise of the Ba’ath Party, holds no official position in the Syrian government.
