Ahead of Sunday’s community-wide Back-to-School Giveaway, Assemblyman Aron Wieder joined volunteers at the Community Outreach Center in Monsey to help pack bags filled with brand-name school supplies for local families.

The Community Outreach Center will host its first-ever Back-to-School Supply Giveaway this Sunday, August 23, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. outside its Community Center at 21 Remsen Avenue in Monsey. The event is open to all families in Rockland County and the 97th Assembly District.

The initiative is made possible through a grant secured by Assemblyman Wieder in partnership with the Community Outreach Center. Each bag contains more than $50 worth of top-quality supplies from brands including Crayola, BIC, Elmer’s, Expo, Staples, Zebra and others.

In addition to Sunday’s community giveaway, Assemblyman Wieder and the COC have also arranged for bags to be distributed to students in need in public schools across the 97th Assembly District.

“This weekend, families will be able to receive a bag with over $50 worth of high-quality, brand-name school supplies to help their child start the school year prepared for success,” said Assemblyman Wieder. “I’m grateful to the Community Outreach Center and all the volunteers for their partnership in making this happen.”

Supplies will be available while they last, with a limit of three bags per family. Children must be present and accompanied by an adult. The event is weather permitting.

COC Executive Director Rabbi Hersh Horowitz thanked Assemblyman Wieder for his support, as well as event-day sponsors Westchester Medical Center, Orange Bank & Trust, Rockland Kosher, Interstate Toyota, Evergreen Kosher Supermarket, The Monsey View, Light It Up and RiteCare.
