For 500 children in Crown Heights, back-to-school means more than a new backpack – it means the excitement of picking out something that’s truly theirs.

CSSY’s annual Back-to-School Campaign gives families private appointments where children can choose from ten backpacks, along with the supplies and colors they want. It’s a simple experience that brings pride and excitement to starting the school year.

“Back-to-school should be an exciting time for every child. No child should have to walk into the classroom feeling different because their family couldn’t afford the supplies they need. We want each child to come in smiling, proud of the backpack and supplies they chose themselves, and ready to begin the year with confidence.
