NETANYAHU REVEALS: Iran Tried To Assassinate One Of His Sons
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu revealed Monday evening that Iran attempted to assassinate one of his two sons, disclosing the alleged plot during an interview with Channel 14.
“Iran tried to murder one of my sons,” Netanyahu said.
The prime minister did not identify whether Yair Netanyahu or Avner Netanyahu was targeted, and he did not provide details on when the alleged assassination attempt took place, how it was planned, or whether Iranian agents had advanced beyond the planning stage.
Netanyahu made the revelation while discussing the security protection provided to members of his family, arguing that the measures are based on genuine threats.
“Therefore, the security they get is not a luxury,” he said.
The comments come as security arrangements for Netanyahu’s wife and sons remain under scrutiny. An agreement reached with the Shin Bet provides security protection for members of the prime minister’s immediate family for at least five years, including in the event Netanyahu is no longer serving as prime minister.
The newly disclosed Iranian threat offers significant context for those security arrangements, though Netanyahu did not reveal whether the attempted assassination was directly tied to any recent decision regarding their protection.
Avner Netanyahu currently lives in Israel, while Yair Netanyahu has spent much of the past several years in Miami.
No further information about the alleged Iranian assassination attempt was immediately made public.
