A 26-year-old man was arrested after robbing a victim at knifepoint on South Main Street earlier this month, according to the Spring Valley Police Department.

Police said officers responded to the area of 28 South Main Street at approximately 1:22 a.m. on August 14 for a report of a suspicious incident.

During the investigation, officers located a victim who reported that a man known to him displayed a knife, pressed it against his throat, and punched him, causing him to fall to the ground. The suspect then took approximately $200 in cash from the victim’s wallet before fleeing the area.

The victim also told police that the same suspect had robbed him on a previous occasion, although that incident had not previously been reported.

Officers canvassed the surrounding area and located the suspect, identified as 26-year-old Jairo Duque-Agustin, who police said is undomiciled.

Duque-Agustin was taken into custody and charged with Robbery in the First Degree, Robbery in the Second Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree in connection with the August 14 incident. He was also charged with Robbery in the Third Degree in connection with the previously unreported robbery.

Duque-Agustin was arraigned in Spring Valley Justice Court before Judge Mellion. Bail was set at $25,000 cash, $50,000 bond, or $75,000 partially secured bond. He was subsequently transferred to the Rockland County Jail.
