The Route 59 bridge over South Pascack Road in Spring Valley will reopen to traffic at 5:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 25, the New York State Department of Transportation announced Monday.

State Route 59 between New Clarkstown Road and South Central Avenue has been closed since early June as part of a major bridge replacement project. The closure had initially been expected to remain in place through the end of the summer, but crews were able to accelerate the construction schedule and reopen the bridge earlier than anticipated.

“The New York State Department of Transportation is pleased to announce that State Route 59 between New Clarkstown Road and South Central Avenue in the Village of Spring Valley will be open to traffic beginning at 5 a.m. on August 25,” NYSDOT Region 8 Director Julianne Fuda said.

Fuda said crews were able to expedite the project while ensuring the structure could safely reopen to motorists.

Work at the site is not yet fully complete, and NYSDOT said crews will continue working in the area over the coming weeks. Motorists should expect periodic lane closures while remaining work is completed.

The reopening restores one of Spring Valley’s busiest transportation links following months of detours and traffic disruptions associated with the bridge replacement.

NYSDOT thanked motorists and area residents for their patience and cooperation throughout the project.
