Over six consecutive weeks this summer, Farbrengen Retreat was in the Poconos hosting a series of weekly Shabbatons, beginning with the first retreat on June 26, 11 Tammuz, and concluding with the sixth and final Shabbaton on July 24, 10 Av.
Each week, the boys departed Crown Heights on the Farbrengen Retreat bus on Erev Shabbos and made the trip to the Poconos. Once there, the schedule could vary from week to week, with time to settle in at the property before Shabbos began.
The size of the groups also varied between the Shabbatonim. Some weekends were more intimate, with as few as five boys attending, while others brought together approximately 15 boys for the weekend.
The weekends gave the boys plenty of time to enjoy the Poconos, including swimming at a local property featuring a large castle-like mansion. The Shabbatonim included time before and during Shabbos for learning Chassidus, singing niggunim and sitting together for intimate-circle time.
The timing of the Shabbos schedule also varied between the retreats. On one Shabbaton, for example, the group spent significant time learning and singing before eventually davening and making Kiddush at approximately midnight. Other Shabbatonim began the formal Shabbos schedule earlier.
Throughout the Shabbos day, the weekends included minyanim, farbrengens and meals, along with time spent exploring the surrounding Poconos landscape.
The relaxed schedule also continued into Motzaei Shabbos. One Shabbaton included a late-night swim followed by grilled wings at approximately 2 a.m.
Sunday was similarly unhurried, with time for the group to remain at the property, enjoy the surroundings and go on hikes before eventually making their way back to Crown Heights.
While each of the six Shabbatonim had its own schedule and pace, the weekends brought together learning, davening, meals, farbrengens, outdoor activities and time together in the Poconos.
The six-week series concluded on July 24, 10 Av.
