ISIS PLOT: Two Teens Planned Terror Attacks Against Israeli Security Forces
Israeli authorities have uncovered an ISIS-inspired terror plot involving a 16-year-old from the Galil and a 19-year-old Haifa resident who allegedly planned separate attacks against Israeli security forces, police and the Shin Bet announced Friday.
The Haifa District Prosecutor’s Office is set to file indictments against the two suspects in Haifa District Court, along with requests that they remain in custody until the conclusion of legal proceedings.
According to investigators, both suspects pledged allegiance to the ISIS terror organization. The 16-year-old, who was arrested earlier this month, viewed and documented online material containing instructions for constructing explosive belts.
Authorities say the teen intended to carry out a terror attack targeting police officers and Jewish soldiers on the Har Habayis in Yerushalayim.
As the investigation progressed, security forces arrested 19-year-old Ibrahim Kaabia of Haifa. Investigators subsequently determined that Kaabia was planning a separate terror attack against an IDF base in northern Israel.
The investigation was conducted jointly by Israel Police and the Shin Bet, leading to Friday’s planned indictments against both suspects.
