One of the first acts of the Rebbe at the beginning of his Nesius in 5712 (1952) was establishing Agudas Nshei U’Bnos Chabad, empowering women with the mission to bring Moshiach.
When the Rebbe instructed Rabbi Weinberg to organize Nshei Chabad, the Rebbe explained: It is written in the Kisvei Arizal that the women of the generation of the Midbar were outstanding. They did not take part in the sin of the Eigel. Hashem promised them that their souls would come down again in this world in the final generation preceding the Geulah.
“We are the last generation of Golus, the first generation of Geulah,” the Rebbe said.
At that time the Rebbe also said: “If you want to accomplish with the men, accomplish with the women – the husbands will listen to their wives.
“The Rebbe started with a small group of women who would illuminate their homes with Torah and Mitzvos and reach out to every Jewish woman in the world, to transform her home into a Bais Hamikdash and reveal the light of Moshiach.
The movement grew. The Rebbe made Nshei international, made the women Shluchos, empowering us and entrusting us with the mission to bring Moshiach. We are the Rebbe’s army, preparing the world to welcome Moshiach.
The Pushka of 770
In 5752, when the Rebbe announced the campaign for the building of 770, a delegation of Nshei Chabad women passed by on the Dollar Line and presented the Rebbe with a gift – a silver Tzedaka Pushka in the shape of 770, containing $5,000 for the building of 770, with a blessing that the Rebbe will lead us to the true and complete Geulah.
The Rebbe answered “Amen” and said: “Good news – Tzedaka will hasten the Geulah!”
The Rebbe then gave two dollar bills to each woman in the group, saying in Yiddish: “Tzuheilen di Geulah – It will hasten the Geulah.”
Living With Moshiach
Mindy Halberstam a”h, to whom this year’s campaign is dedicated, embodied this mission. She lived with Moshiach and dedicated her life to Mivtzoyim, to outreach, and to inspiring all Jewish women.
She was part of that first Moshiach Committee who presented the gift to the Rebbe on the Dollar Line and was zoche to hear his holy words, “Tzedaka will hasten the Geulah.
“Today, Nshei U’Bnos Chabad continues that shlichus with inspiring farbrengens and year-round outreach – bringing Shabbos candles, honey for Rosh Hashana, Matzah for Pesach, and light to every Jewish home.
From its modest inception to its global outreach, Nshei U’Bnos Chabad is fulfilling the Rebbe’s vision and will hasten the Geulah.
