Breaking: Arutz Sheva - Israel National News has learned that the Population and Immigration Authority is expected to hold a hearing for a foreign activist ahead of a decision on whether to deport him from Israel, after he was arrested on Shabbat in Har Hevron.

The arrest followed a riot and a complaint filed against him on suspicion of assaulting a minor in the town of Carmel's Barkai neighborhood, as well as additional offenses.

Footage from the scene shows the activist standing near a gate and preventing Jews from passing. The footage shows a child attempting to pass, with the activist rubbing his body against the child's. Civilians who witnessed the incident detained the activist until police arrived.

Officers from the Hevron police station in the Judea region were dispatched to the scene and conducted an initial examination of the circumstances. Police subsequently arrested the foreign national, who was taken for questioning.

The investigation was handled by the inter-agency task force in the Judea and Samaria District. According to police, after an evidentiary basis for criminal charges regarding his actions was established, the investigation materials were transferred on Sunday night to the Population and Immigration Authority for a hearing and a decision on whether he should be deported from Israel.

The case is being handled in accordance with National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir's policy and as part of cooperation between the various authorities aimed at thwarting activities involving confrontations and disturbances in various locations throughout Judea and Samaria. According to police, incidents of this kind can lead to confrontations and harm Israel's image.

Police officials told Arutz Sheva - Israel National News that they they would not tolerate rioting by anarchist activists, stressing, "The Israel Police's Judea and Samaria District will continue to exercise all of its authority in cooperation with the various security agencies and law enforcement authorities."

According to the officials, the activity is intended "to thwart and prevent incidents of confrontation and violence which frequently occur amid incitement and provocation and create fertile ground for public disturbances, and to arrest those involved and bring them to justice."
