Security arrangements around Central Elections Committee Chairman and Supreme Court Justice Noam Sohlberg have been increased in recent days as part of preparations for Election Day.

The Central Elections Committee said, “Justice Sohlberg is being provided with security in accordance with security needs and the directives of the Israel Police."

The directive to bolster the security arrangements was issued by police during the past two weeks. The measure was decided upon following a dedicated situation assessment on the matter and in accordance with intelligence presented to the relevant authorities. Security was increased on the ground over the past several days.

Yesterday, the committee recommended providing security for Yashar! party chairman Gadi Eisenkot throughout the entire election period. By contrast, the committee decided not to recommend security for Democrats party chairman Yair Golan, despite a request on the matter submitted by Justice Sohlberg himself.
