UMAN ALTERNATIVE: Thousands Of Breslov Chassidim May Spend Rosh Hashanah In Meron
Breslov organizers are preparing for a significantly larger Rosh Hashanah gathering in Meron this year, as thousands of Chassidim may be unable to travel to Uman because of IDF conscription issues and arrests involving Chareidi bochurim, Arutz Sheva reports.
While some Breslov Chassidim have spent Rosh Hashanah in Meron in previous years as an alternative to traveling to the kever of Rebbe Nachman in Uman, organizers believe the numbers could rise sharply this year because of restrictions on leaving the country and concerns among those affected.
A special committee has been formed in recent days to coordinate the gathering at the kever of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai, and registration has opened for lodging arrangements. Preparations include sleeping accommodations, a large tent for Yom Tov meals, and expanded facilities for tefillos.
Organizers are preparing for the possibility that thousands could spend Rosh Hashanah in Meron and are urging early registration so the event can be handled in an orderly way.
At the same time, Breslov organizers stressed that Uman remains the primary destination for the Chassidim. They said there is a continuing hope and tefillah that those seeking to travel will ultimately be able to reach Rebbe Nachman’s kever and that the obstacles preventing them from doing so will be removed.
