Israeli security officials are warning of a sharp increase in attempts by Iran and Hamas to orchestrate terrorist attacks against Israelis in Yehuda and Shomron, with many of the plots being directed by operatives outside the area.

A senior Israeli military official said the motivation to carry out attacks remains extremely high despite repeated failures by terror groups to successfully organize major operations.

“The motivation to carry out attacks in Yehuda and Shomron is high, and the lack of success only increases that motivation,” the official said.

Security officials believe Iran, Hamas and other hostile elements are seeking a high-profile attack that could provide a symbolic victory and potentially ignite widespread unrest across Yehuda and Shomron.

The IDF has intensified preventative operations amid the growing threat, conducting nightly raids aimed at arresting suspects, interrogating terror operatives and seizing weapons.

Approximately 60 suspects were arrested by troops operating in Yehuda and Shomron over the past week, including individuals suspected of preparing to carry out attacks in the immediate future.

Israeli forces are also preparing reinforcements as security officials work to prevent even a single successful major attack from triggering a broader escalation.

“Our role is to prevent any terrorist attack that could ignite the entire sector,” the senior military official said.
