Israel’s Foreign Ministry has issued new emergency guidelines for Israelis planning to travel to Uman for Rosh Hashanah, citing the complex and unpredictable security situation caused by the ongoing war in Ukraine.

The ministry warned that a nighttime curfew will be enforced during Rosh Hashanah and urged travelers to strictly follow Ukrainian law and instructions from local authorities. Travelers were warned to carry the necessary documentation and avoid arguments, confrontations or provocative behavior that could result in arrest.

Those traveling to Uman were also instructed to take air-raid sirens seriously and immediately enter the nearest protected area when an alert sounds. The ministry warned against gathering near the sites of missile impacts or interceptions and stressed that photographing or publishing images of military installations, vehicles, soldiers or impact sites is strictly prohibited, as such material could expose Ukrainian security activity.

The Foreign Ministry also issued a warning to dual Israeli-Ukrainian citizens, noting that Ukrainian authorities may treat them as Ukrainian citizens and impose restrictions in circumstances where Israel’s ability to intervene may be limited.

Travelers were advised to make sure their passports remain valid, carry medical prescriptions in English and bring no more than five packages of medication intended for personal use. Narcotic or psychotropic substances, as well as medications prohibited in countries along the travel route, may not be brought along.

The ministry additionally warned travelers to prepare for heavy congestion on roads and at border crossings and cautioned against paying tourist taxes through unfamiliar parties.
