Shmuly Hurwitz and Shlomo Hecht continue their “Melodies of Elul” series with a new cover of “Achas Shoalti,” originally sung by Yingerlich.
The song is based on the words from Tehillim: “אַחַת שָׁאַלְתִּי מֵאֵת ה׳ אוֹתָהּ אֲבַקֵּשׁ” — “One thing I ask of Hashem, this is what I seek: that I dwell in the house of Hashem all the days of my life.”
The words express a simple and powerful desire: to be close to Hashem and to spend one’s life seeking that connection. As we stand in Elul a time when we focus on strengthening our connection with Hashem and preparing for the Yomim Noraim this song is the perfect way to get in that mindset
