Former US President Joe Biden on Tuesday shared new details regarding his fight against prostate cancer.

In a social media post in honor of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, the 83-year-old described his medical condition and the course of treatments he has undergone since his diagnosis.

“More than 330,000 American men this year will hear the words we did last spring when I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. By the time we found it, it had already spread to my bones," Biden wrote.

The former President indicated that the radiation treatment he underwent last fall “worked as intended, and I continue to do the things I care about, like finishing my memoir."

Biden expressed his deep gratitude to the medical teams treating him and also urged men not to delay routine screenings, stressing the importance of early detection.

Last May, Biden's office revealed his diagnosis with an "aggressive" form of prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone.
