Tensions in Israel's political arena are escalating ahead of the 26th Knesset election following a direct confrontation between Yisrael Beytenu MK Yulia Malinovsky and the Blue and White party. The dispute erupted over Benny Gantz's decision to press forward with a campaign despite his party's dismal standing in recent polls.

Malinovsky launched a harsh attack on the Blue and White chairman, accusing him of squandering an estimated 15 million shekels in campaign financing from public funds.

“Gantz's decision to run is not only pathetic, but it also wastes Israeli taxpayers' money," Malinovsky wrote. “Gantz - and anyone looking at the numbers - can see the reality. There is zero chance Blue and White will cross the electoral threshold. Yet, Benny Gantz is about to throw 15 million shekels of public money into advertising and PR, knowing full well he cannot win - all to satisfy personal whims and ego."

The Yisrael Beytenu lawmaker clarified that she was not accusing Gantz of criminal wrongdoing, though she used severe language to criticize the moral implications of his decision.

“It may not be a criminal offense, but it is a moral failure toward the public. Specific interest groups will profit from the cash funneled into this campaign. It stinks."

Gantz's party responded with a sharp counterattack targeting Yisrael Beytenu and its chairman, Avigdor Liberman.

“Blue and White intends to establish a broad, Zionist government and tell the public the truth - unlike Yisrael Beytenu, the most corrupt party in Israel's history," the party stated in an official release.

Blue and White went on to accuse Liberman of preparing a political alliance with Arab factions: “Yisrael Beytenu's disgraceful attempt to deceive the public - for once, not in the criminal sense - in order to form a government backed by Arab parties is one of the greatest political frauds in Israeli history. Few remember, but Liberman was the one pushing as early as 2020 for a government with Balad, and that remains his plan today."

Blue and White concluded with a direct jab at Malinovsky: “As for the money, Yulia, those in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. No party has had more senior officials investigated and imprisoned than Yisrael Beytenu."
