Several U.S. fighter jets were damaged during the Iranian attack on the U.S. Air Force base at Al-Safa Salti in Jordan on Tuesday night, CBS reported.

According to the report, approximately eight F-15 fighter jets sustained light damage but have already returned to service. An A-10 Thunderbolt was also struck and lost one of its wings.

Jordanian officials said Iran launched 20 ballistic missiles toward the kingdom, 18 of which were intercepted. U.S. forces stationed in Jordan fired more than 30 Patriot interceptor missiles to defend against the Iranian attack.

The Iranian strike came in response to a U.S. attack on five Iranian tankers. That operation followed an earlier attack by the regime in Tehran targeting a U.S. Navy warship.
