Israel Police have announced that they have completed their investigation into Yan Shamala, a 41-year-old Be'er Sheva resident suspected of injecting anesthetic substances into fruit purees intended for infants.

Police also released security camera footage showing the suspect walking through the aisles of a supermarket shortly before he allegedly injected the anesthetic substances into the food products.

According to the police, the food poisoning investigation was one of the most complex conducted in recent months. According to investigators, there were initially no leads, and the suspect was unknown to the victims and had no direct connection to them or to the products.

As part of the investigation, which also involved the Shin Bet, investigators analyzed hundreds of hours of security camera footage, carried out a variety of investigative measures, and employed advanced technological means.

After identifying the suspect, investigators conducted covert surveillance for a period of time until sufficient evidence was gathered; he was then arrested at his home.

Police said that following the completion of evidence gathering, the case was transferred to the prosecution.

The Prosecutor's Office is expected to file a prosecutor's statement against him Thursday, along with a request to extend his detention by five days until an indictment is filed.
