The Jerusalem Magistrate's Court ruled on Thursday that Tal Yinon Derdik will remain in detention until the end of the legal proceedings against him due to allegations that he violated the conditions of the administrative order that IDF Central Command Chief Avi Bluth issued against him.

Derdik was arrested after the Judea and Samaria District Police Prosecution Unit filed an indictment mere hours after he was taken for questioning.

According to the indictment, Derdik violated clear directives stated in the administrative order when he failed to arrive twice a day to sign at the Modiin Ilit Police Station.

In response to the developments, Derdik told his family and legal representatives: "I will not cooperate with Gen. Avi Bluth's draconian and offensive order. This is a fight not only against my order, but against the persecution of dozens of settlers who Avi Bluth issues administrative orders against. It is clear to all why he issues the orders; it is against the settlements and farms he wants to evacuate. This is his method of evacuating them. The only civilians in Israel who have administrative orders against them are residents of Judea and Samaria; we can not agree to this. I am starting a struggle against this; I do not agree to comply with the order. I will sit in prison and not sign that I'm willing to comply with this crazy order. We must stop Avi Bluth's persecution of the settlement movement."

During the court hearing, his attorney, Nati Rom of the Honenu legal aid organization, opposed the police request to keep his client in custody until the conclusion of the legal proceedings.

Rom criticized the position of the police prosecution and questioned the severity of the measure: “Since when is someone who fails to report to a police station kept in custody until the end of proceedings?" he challenged prosecutors during the hearing.

Tal Yinon Derdik is suspected of crimes of violence, abuse, and a serious and shocking indecent act against a Palestinian Arab. According to the police, during the incident, Jews attacked Arabs, including women and children, with clubs, tied up some of them, and committed an indecent act on one of the victims. Four victims needed medical attention.
