Rachel Rabin Yaakov, sister of the late Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, passed away Friday at the age of 102.

Rabin was born in 1925 and was an educator and one of the founders of Kibbutz Manara, where she served as the teacher of its first class.

Over the years, she was considered a particularly influential voice in the kibbutz movement in the Upper Galilee.

At the beginning of the Swords of Iron War, she was evacuated together with her fellow kibbutz members after the community came under Hezbollah fire on a daily basis. She had not returned to the kibbutz since then due to her medical condition.

She will be laid to rest on Monday at the cemetery in her kibbutz.

President Isaac Herzog eulogized her: “Her long and impressive life journey was an example of educational and public service. For decades, Rachel was a leading figure in Manara and in the kibbutz movement as a whole, and she educated many generations of students."
