President Donald Trump appeared to offer Mayor Zohran Mamdani his personal assistance during their high-profile meeting at Gracie Mansion on Monday, according to a lip reader who analyzed footage of the encounter for the New York Post.

“I’m here to help you,” Trump appeared to tell Mamdani during a private exchange caught on camera, according to lip-reading expert Nicola Hickling. The Post stressed that the interpretation was based on lip reading rather than audible remarks.

“What I will say, we’ll look after you, but as I say, you’re doing great,” Trump said, expert lip reader Jeremy Freeman told The Post.

“I’ll look after you, you look after the New Yorkers,” the president said. “And we can both make it work. I wanna support you, help me. Come with me to the White House – see how I work.”

The meeting lasted roughly 90 minutes and focused heavily on affordability and Mamdani’s proposed Sunnyside Yard development in Queens. The Associated Press, CBS New York and Axios reported that the two agreed to deepen discussions over the massive project, which Mamdani says could produce 12,000 homes and 30,000 jobs.

Afterward, Trump publicly praised Mamdani’s start as mayor, telling him: “Hopefully you’re going to be a great one.”
