Monsey Eruv Weekly Inspection Report — Erev Shabbos and Sukkos; All Sections Confirmed Kosher, Special Hospital Eruv Installed
The Eruv of Monsey released its weekly inspection report ahead of Shabbos and Yom Tov Sukkos 5787, with inspectors identifying eight issues across the Eruv system. Three were determined to be not kosher and required immediate repair, two were classified as high-priority, and the remaining issues were lower-priority maintenance items.
Following this week’s repairs, officials confirmed that all sections of the Eruv are kosher and operational ahead of Shabbos and Yom Tov.
In Suffern, crews completed a repair along Washington Avenue after a cable wire was changed, requiring the lechi to be adjusted.
In Chestnut Ridge, vines tangled in the Eruv along Cottage Lane were cleared and the lechi was trimmed.
Two repairs were completed in Pearl River. Along Old Pascack Road, crews installed a new PVC after a utility pole was replaced. At a second location on South Highland Road, a damaged PVC was repaired.
In the Monsey Rambam Eruv 1 section, crews trimmed branches interfering with the Eruv string crossing Calvert Drive. In the Monsey Rambam Eruv 2 section, branches surrounding an Eruv pole on Bates Drive were cut back.
In Pomona, along Willow Grove Road, crews removed branches and vines that had grown around a lechi.
The Good Samaritan Hospital Rambam, Airmont, Montebello, Spring Valley, Spring Valley Rambam, Nanuet Rambam, Wesley Hills, New Hempstead, New City, Hillcrest, and Haverstraw sections were also inspected and confirmed kosher.
Eruv crews also completed a significant infrastructure upgrade at two New York State Thruway underpasses. Two new lechis were installed at each underpass — one near Route 45 and another near Spook Rock Road — strengthening the Eruv at both locations.
Special Eruv Installed at Westchester Hospital for Sukkos
Ahead of Sukkos, Eruv crews also installed a new Eruv connection at Westchester Hospital, connecting the Bikur Cholim room at Maplewood Hall with the outdoor Sukkah.
Officials stressed that the Eruv does not encompass the entire Westchester Hospital campus. The new Eruv is specifically limited to the Bikur Cholim room at Maplewood Hall and its connection to the Sukkah outside.
Officials confirmed that all necessary repairs throughout the Monsey Eruv system were completed ahead of Shabbos and Yom Tov, ensuring the Eruv remains fully kosher and operational for the community.
