ANTI-ISRAEL CHANTS: Crowd Sings “From the River to the Sea” Before AOC Takes Stage at Campaign Event

A crowd of roughly 2,000 people sang the anti-Israel slogan “from the river to the sea” before Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took the stage at a Sunday town hall in Ithaca, New York, held as part of an effort to boost Democratic turnout ahead of the midterm elections.

Mina Petrova and Zoe Reisman, leaders of Cornell University’s Young Democratic Socialists of America, led the crowd in the chant at the “Students vs. Billionaires” event. They also declared, “long live the student intifada.”

The slogan refers to the land between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea. Critics say it calls for the elimination of Israel. The U.S. House passed a resolution condemning the phrase in 2024, with Ocasio-Cortez voting against it.

Ocasio-Cortez did not lead the chants. In her remarks, she accused Cornell of restricting students’ ability to protest and spoke about those raising the Palestinian issue.

Gov. Kathy Hochul had been scheduled to appear with Ocasio-Cortez earlier Sunday but canceled. Her office attributed the decision to the nor’easter affecting New York City.
