Rockland County District Attorney Announces Two Defendants Plead Guilty In Drug Task Force’s “Operation Spring Cleaning”
Two defendants arrested as part of the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office’s “Operation Spring Cleaning” have pleaded guilty to felony drug charges, Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II announced.
Tyrone Stewart, 35, pleaded guilty on September 22 to two counts each of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree before Rockland County Court Judge David Ascher.
According to prosecutors, Stewart admitted to selling crack cocaine in Nyack on February 26 and April 14 in exchange for cash. He is expected to be sentenced as a second felony drug offender to four years in state prison followed by two years of post-release supervision, with the sentences to run concurrently.
Frantz Beauvais, 39, also pleaded guilty on September 22 to one count of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree. Prosecutors said Beauvais admitted to selling crack cocaine in Nyack on March 11.
Beauvais, who is being sentenced as a second felony drug offender with a prior violent felony conviction, is expected to receive seven years in state prison followed by between 1½ and three years of post-release supervision.
Both defendants are scheduled to be sentenced on December 15.
“Operation Spring Cleaning” was carried out by the Rockland Drug Task Force under Chief of Investigators Deirdre Smith and Task Force Director William Martinez. The task force includes investigators from the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office, Ramapo Police Department, Haverstraw Police Department and Suffern Police Department.
District Attorney Walsh called the operation a success, saying the convictions demonstrate the importance of coordinated law enforcement efforts to combat illegal drug activity in Rockland County.
The cases were prosecuted by Executive Assistant District Attorney Michael Peterson and Assistant District Attorney Tina Thermadam.
