Rockland County District Attorney Announces Indictment Of Two Men Following Half-Kilogram Heroin Bust In Airmont
Two men have been indicted on felony drug charges following an investigation by the Rockland County Drug Task Force into the distribution of heroin in the Village of Airmont, Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II announced.
Marvin Jeanty, 42, also known as “Cream,” of Monroe, and Jordan Miranda, 23, of Paterson, New Jersey, are accused of coordinating the sale of approximately half a kilogram — more than one pound — of heroin in Airmont on May 19.
Prosecutors say the two possessed the heroin and took part in a transaction involving approximately $18,000 in exchange for the drugs.
Both were indicted on charges including Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree, both Class A-I felonies, as well as third-degree sale and possession charges.
Jeanty was arraigned Thursday before Rockland County Court Judge Kevin F. Russo, who set bail at $100,000 cash or $1 million bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for November 25.
Miranda was apprehended in New Jersey and remains in custody there pending extradition to New York.
The investigation was conducted by the Rockland County Drug Task Force with assistance from Homeland Security Investigations. The Drug Enforcement Administration and Paramus Police Department assisted with the apprehension of the defendants.
The Drug Task Force includes investigators from the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office and members of the Ramapo Police Department, Haverstraw Police Department and Suffern Police Department.
District Attorney Walsh praised Chief of Detectives Deirdre Smith, Drug Task Force Director William Martinez and the participating agencies for their work, saying the seizure removed a significant quantity of heroin from the community and demonstrated the importance of coordinated narcotics enforcement across Rockland County.
The case is being prosecuted by Executive Assistant District Attorney Michael Peterson and Assistant District Attorney Tina Thermadam.
An indictment is an accusation, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
