Joe Rand Outraises Bill Weber by 68% in Latest State Senate Campaign Filing
Democratic State Senate candidate and Nyack Mayor Joe Rand says his campaign outraised Republican incumbent State Senator Bill Weber during the latest reporting period, pointing to newly filed campaign finance disclosures as evidence of broader donor support in Rockland County ahead of the November 3 election.
According to figures released by the Rand campaign and drawn from New York State Board of Elections public disclosure records, Rand raised $33,705 during the July-through-September period, compared with $20,028 reported by Weber — approximately 68% more. The NYS Board of Elections maintains a public reporting database containing candidate and campaign disclosure filings.
Rand’s campaign said $20,355 of its total came from individual contributions, compared with $6,028 for Weber. Rand reported 122 individual contributors during the period, while Weber reported 12.
The campaign highlighted an even larger difference among Rockland County donors. Rand reported raising $17,375 from 101 Rockland contributors during the reporting period, compared with $5,778 from 11 Rockland contributors for Weber.
“I’m just so grateful for the outpouring of support throughout this campaign, and especially this last quarter,” Rand said. “It’s not easy to outraise an incumbent who has been running for this office since 2020, but we raised more than three times as much money from Rockland donors, with more than nine times as many local contributors.”
Figures released by the Rand campaign for the full election cycle show Rand with $167,666 in individual contributions from 708 individual donors, compared with $125,165 from 339 donors for Weber.
In Rockland County specifically, Rand’s campaign says it has received $125,914 from 554 individual contributors over the course of the campaign, compared with $59,843 from 277 contributors for Weber. That represents approximately 110% more in Rockland contributions and twice as many Rockland donors.
State Senate Democratic Campaign Committee Chair Senator Shelley Mayer said the fundraising numbers demonstrate growing support for Rand, saying voters are looking for a senator who will “listen to their concerns and fight for the needs of this district.”
Rand is challenging Weber for New York’s 38th State Senate District, with Election Day scheduled for November 3.
