Bikur Cholim of Rockland Thanks Hochul Administration, Helen Hayes Hospital for Sukkos Accommodations

Oct 6, 2026·2 min read

Bikur Cholim of Rockland County is expressing its appreciation to Governor Kathy Hochul’s administration and the leadership of Helen Hayes Hospital for their continued cooperation in accommodating the religious needs of patients and their families.

Bikur Cholim has continued working closely with state and hospital officials to address the needs of patients who are hospitalized over Shabbos and Yom Tov.

That cooperation was once again evident over Sukkos, when assistance was provided with arrangements surrounding the hospital’s sukkah, allowing patients and their families to observe the Yom Tov while remaining at the hospital.

Bikur Cholim extended special thanks to Eva Wyner Rosen, Governor Kathy Hochul’s Director of Jewish Affairs and Mr. Paul Adler, for their continued assistance, communication and responsiveness to the needs of the community.

The organization also thanked Yvonne Evans, MSHS, RN, Chief Administrator of Helen Hayes Hospital, for her cooperation and ongoing efforts to facilitate accommodations for patients and their families.

Helen Hayes Hospital, located in West Haverstraw, is a New York State-operated rehabilitation hospital serving patients recovering from serious illnesses, injuries and other conditions requiring physical rehabilitation.

Additional improvements are also planned, including an expansion of the hospital’s dedicated Shabbos Room to provide sleeping accommodations in the coming months.

Bikur Cholim of Rockland County says it looks forward to continuing its partnership with the Hochul administration and Helen Hayes Hospital leadership to help ensure patients and their families can maintain their religious needs while receiving care.
