Ira Kohler, a New York native who moved to Israel at age 21, will share his story from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 12 at B’nai Jeshurun Congregation at 27501 Fairmount Blvd. in Pepper Pike.
Kohler served as a lone soldier in the Israel Defense Forces paratroopers brigade. On Oct. 7, 2023, he fought in Kibbutz Be’eri and spent more than 100 days inside the Gaza Strip. After completing his service, Kohler became a public speaker and wrote “Once a Paratrooper,” a memoir about his experience as a lone soldier during the war. The event will be held in partnership with Park Synagogue.
