VOTE PUSH: Dozens Of Elected Officials Unite In Major Call For Residents To Register Ahead Of October 24 Deadline
A broad group of local elected officials has issued a joint community-wide appeal urging eligible residents to register and participate in the upcoming November 3 General Election.
In a letter titled “A United Call to Our Community — Make Your Voice Heard,” the officials stressed that decisions made at the federal, state and local levels have a direct impact on families, schools, institutions and neighborhoods, including issues involving public safety, religious liberty, education, infrastructure, affordability and access to government services.
“We strongly encourage every eligible resident to make sure they are registered and prepared to vote,” the letter states, while also urging parents, educators and community leaders to encourage newly eligible young adults to register. Residents who expect to be away on Election Day are encouraged to make arrangements in advance to vote by mail or through early voting.
The letter was signed by dozens of elected officials from communities across Rockland County, including mayors, deputy mayors, village trustees, town council members and county legislators.
The deadline to register to vote in New York for the November 3 General Election is October 24.
