HENDEL EYES KINGMAKER ROLE: Former Minister Says His Party Could Back Netanyahu Or Eisenkot

Former Communications Minister Yoaz Hendel said Tuesday that his political alliance could support either Benjamin Netanyahu or Gadi Eisenkot in forming Israel’s next government, depending on the outcome of the election and the balance of parties in the next Knesset.
Hendel, whose Reservists party has joined forces with economist Yaron Zelekha’s Economic Party, predicted that the alliance would win at least five Knesset seats.
He described his party as an alternative for voters dissatisfied with the major political factions and warned that voting exclusively for larger parties could contribute to another period of political deadlock.
Hendel indicated that his faction would examine potential coalition arrangements after the election rather than committing in advance to either major candidate. Israeli parties must secure sufficient parliamentary support to establish a government, with 61 seats constituting a majority in the Knesset.
