IRAN REORGANIZES ASSASSINATION NETWORK: Secret Overseas Terror Unit Renamed After Israeli Eliminations

Oct 14, 2026·1 min read

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has reportedly reorganized its overseas assassination network, appointing a new commander and changing the unit’s designation following a series of Israeli intelligence operations and targeted eliminations. The former Unit 840 has been renamed Unit 600, according to an investigation by Iran International.

According to the report, the Quds Force appointed 64-year-old Mojtaba Haq-Lesan to lead the organization. He previously headed the unit’s intelligence department.

Haq-Lesan replaces Yazdan Mir, also known as Hajj Asghar Bagheri, who was eliminated in an Israeli strike on April 6. The organization reportedly operated without a permanent commander during the intervening months.

Mohammad Reza Ansari has been appointed deputy commander and placed directly in charge of operations involving Israel. Mohsen Boroujeni oversees operations in the United States and Europe, while Morteza Babaei is responsible for the Middle East and Africa, and Javad Sharafai oversees activities in Asia.

The network has previously been linked to assassination plots targeting American officials, Israeli businesspeople, Iranian opposition figures, and Jewish institutions. The investigation also described Iranian efforts to recruit criminal organizations in European countries to carry out attacks on behalf of the regime.
