TERROR UNDER COVER: IDF, Shin Bet Arrest Five in Raids on Charity Groups Linked to Hamas and PFLP
Israeli security forces arrested five wanted suspects during two targeted raids in Yehuda and Shomron against organizations that authorities say operated under the guise of charitable work while serving as financial and organizational arms of Hamas and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.
The joint IDF and Shin Bet operations targeted offices in Ramallah and Yatta. Forces confiscated computers, documents and checkbooks connected to funds used to finance hostile activity, according to security officials.
Earlier this week, troops raided the offices of Addameer in Ramallah. Israeli security authorities said the organization receives terror funding and provides legal assistance to PFLP terrorists imprisoned in Israel.
Officials also said some of the organization’s employees participated in the August 2019 terrorist attack at Danni Spring in which Rina Shnerb, HY”D, was murdered.
In a separate operation conducted in recent weeks under Shin Bet direction, IDF troops raided the offices of the Islamic Association for the Care of Orphans in Yatta, within the Yehuda Brigade’s area of operations.
According to security officials, the association serves as a financial arm funneling money to Hamas and supporting the families of terrorists and prisoners.
Authorities said the association’s director and other senior figures are Hamas operatives who previously served prison sentences. They said those officials use the organization’s civilian cover to strengthen Hamas’s influence in the area.
The IDF and Shin Bet said both organizations targeted in the raids had been declared unlawful associations.
Security forces said they would continue proactive operations to dismantle terror infrastructure throughout Yehuda and Shomron and bring terrorists operating against Israeli civilians to justice.
