ELECTIONS CHIEF ADDRESSES FRAUD FEARS: More Than 7.3 Million Israelis Eligible to Vote
Supreme Court Justice Noam Sohlberg, chairman of Israel’s Central Elections Committee, sought to reassure voters Wednesday that the upcoming Knesset elections would be conducted securely, declaring that the country’s voting system cannot simply be manipulated to produce fraudulent results.
Sohlberg made the remarks during a visit to the Elections Committee’s logistics center, where officials are preparing materials for the October 27 election.
More than 7.3 million Israelis are eligible to participate in the election, with 12,018 polling stations scheduled to operate throughout the country. Election officials have prepared approximately 450 million ballot slips.
During his visit, Sohlberg reviewed the extensive logistical preparations and addressed concerns about attempted interference, including cyberattacks, the misuse of artificial intelligence, and security threats.
The committee has been examining emergency scenarios that could affect Election Day, including missile attacks and disruptions at polling stations. Preparations are being coordinated with relevant security authorities ahead of the nationwide vote.
