FEDERAL PROBES: Ilhan Omar Under Investigation Over Immigration Records And Financial Disclosures As Husband Breaks Silence Following Raid

Oct 14, 2026·3 min read

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) is facing federal investigations in Washington, D.C., and Minnesota involving allegations of immigration fraud and discrepancies in her financial disclosures, according to a New York Post report published Wednesday, just two days after federal agents searched her Washington residence.

The investigations are examining separate issues involving the Minnesota congresswoman’s immigration history and the dramatic changes in her reported family wealth, which previously included business interests valued at as much as $30 million.

According to the Post, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Washington, led by Jeanine Pirro, is examining Omar’s financial disclosures, while federal investigators in Minnesota are reviewing allegations concerning her immigration records and eligibility for citizenship.

On Monday, Homeland Security Investigations agents executed a court-authorized search warrant at Omar’s Washington home, removing materials believed to be relevant to the immigration investigation.

Investigators are reportedly examining whether Omar or her late father provided inaccurate information on immigration documents decades ago, including questions surrounding her birth date and her father’s naturalization.

Federal grand jury subpoenas have also reportedly been issued to members of Omar’s family, including her sister, Sahra Noor.

The financial investigation centers on disclosures involving two businesses connected to Omar’s husband, Tim Mynett: Rose Lake Capital, a venture capital firm, and eStCru, a California-based wine business.

Earlier congressional filings placed the combined value of the businesses between $6 million and $30 million in 2024, a substantial increase from their reported values the previous year.

However, Omar subsequently amended her financial disclosures, reducing the couple’s reported assets to a range of approximately $18,000 to $95,000.

Her office has maintained that the original figures incorrectly reflected the businesses’ total equity without properly accounting for liabilities and Mynett’s ownership interests.

The Office of Congressional Conduct previously reviewed allegations involving the disclosures and recommended dismissal in September, finding insufficient reason to believe Omar had violated federal law or House rules.

Meanwhile, Mynett broke his silence Wednesday when confronted by Fox News Digital outside the couple’s Washington residence.

“My wife came here when she was 12 years old as a child war refugee. No concerns,” Mynett said when asked about the federal investigation.

His remarks came as President Donald Trump continued publicly questioning Omar’s financial history and the circumstances surrounding her immigration to the United States.

Omar has denied wrongdoing and accused the Trump administration of using federal law enforcement to target political opponents.
