CHAOS IN BNEI BRAK: Protesters Attempt To Storm IDF Chareidi Unit, Two Arrested; Lieberman Calls Them “Terrorists”

Oct 15, 2026·2 min read

Police arrested two protesters Wednesday evening after a group of Chareidi demonstrators attempted to force their way into an IDF facility housing a military unit designated for Chareidi soldiers on the outskirts of Bnei Brak.

The incident occurred at a building on Masada Street, where dozens of protesters gathered and attempted to breach the facility. Police officers were dispatched to prevent the demonstrators from entering the premises.

According to police, two individuals were arrested for attempting to break into the building and were taken to a police station for questioning.

Officers remained at the scene until the disturbance ended.

The incident marked the second attempted breach of the facility in recent days. Last week, protesters also attempted to enter the compound following demonstrations organized by the Peleg Yerushalmi faction against the drafting of yeshiva bochurim into the IDF.

Wednesday’s confrontation quickly sparked sharp political reactions, with Yisrael Beiteinu chairman Avigdor Lieberman issuing a particularly harsh condemnation of the demonstrators.

“At this very moment, dozens of draft dodgers are attempting to forcibly break into a military base,” Lieberman declared.

“Anyone who tries to break into an IDF base is simply a terrorist. They must all be arrested immediately and thrown into prison.”

Former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, chairman of the Beyachad party, also condemned the incident, blaming Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Shas chairman Aryeh Deri for what he described as the government’s failure to protect those serving in the military.

“This is the Netanyahu-Deri legacy — the government abandons those who serve for the sake of draft dodgers,” Bennett said.

“It is happening on the battlefield, and now also on the streets of Bnei Brak. The Chareidi rioters feel they own the place because they hear Deri promising a draft exemption law after the elections and see Netanyahu backing him.”
