NEW ISRAELI POLL: 40% Prefer Right-Wing Government With Opposition Party If Elections Produce No Clear Majority
A new Channel 14 poll released Wednesday found that 40% of Israeli respondents favor forming a right-wing government with the participation of an opposition party if neither political bloc secures a majority in the upcoming Knesset elections.
The survey, conducted by NEXT DATA, examined which type of coalition Israelis would prefer in the event of a political deadlock following the elections.
According to the findings, a right-wing government joined by a party currently in the opposition received the highest level of support among the options presented, at 40%.
A national unity government was the second most popular option, receiving support from 23% of respondents.
Another 18% favored establishing a minority government with the support of Arab parties, while 16% preferred a left-wing government that includes a party associated with the political right.
Just 3% of respondents said they had no opinion on the issue.
The results show a 17-percentage-point gap between support for a right-wing government incorporating an opposition party and the next most popular option, a national unity government.
The findings come as Israeli political parties prepare for elections in less than two weeks, with recent surveys offering sharply conflicting projections of the next Knesset’s composition.
A separate Channel 14 poll released Wednesday projected 62 seats for Netanyahu’s right-wing bloc, while a Channel 13 survey projected just 51 seats for the same bloc.
