JORDAN BORDER SECURITY: Netanyahu Inspects Barrier Construction And Announces Drone Defense Plans

Oct 15, 2026·1 min read

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited Israel’s border with Jordan on Thursday, inspecting construction of a new security barrier and announcing that the IDF has developed plans to address the growing threat of drones crossing into Israeli territory.

Netanyahu was accompanied by Defense Minister Israel Katz, Border and Security Fence Directorate chief Maj. Gen. Eran Ofir and 96th Division commander Brig. Gen. Oren Simha. The visit included a briefing on construction, military deployments and defensive preparations along the border.

Netanyahu said the barrier is part of a broader security effort involving engineering projects, logistical preparations, regular military forces and reservists. He confirmed that specific plans are being developed to counter drone threats but declined to disclose operational details.

Defense Minister Katz said the border defenses are intended to complement Israel’s offensive military posture against threats originating from Iran and nearby hostile organizations. Israeli forces are continuing construction and deployment work along the border as part of the security program.
