IRAN TERROR PLOT: Two Men Jailed In Germany For Planning Attacks On Jewish Leaders
A German court sentenced two men to prison Thursday after convicting them of planning attacks against prominent Jewish and pro-Israel figures while carrying out surveillance activities on behalf of Iranian intelligence.
The court in Hamburg sentenced a Danish national identified as Ali S. to eight and a half years in prison for preparing attacks against individuals including Volker Beck, president of the German-Israeli Society, and Josef Schuster, president of the Central Council of Jews in Germany.
An Afghan accomplice identified as Tawab M. received a four-and-a-half-year sentence. Prosecutors said he had agreed to recruit another individual and provide him with a weapon for a planned attack on Beck.
According to German prosecutors, Ali S. received instructions from the Quds Force, the foreign operations branch of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, in early 2025. The defendants were arrested in Denmark and subsequently extradited to Germany. Iranian officials previously rejected the accusations when charges were announced, while the German Foreign Ministry summoned Iran’s ambassador following one of the arrests.
