The IDF announced Thursday that combat engineers destroyed a Hamas tunnel stretching approximately 1.5 kilometers beneath southern Gaza, including a section that crossed the Yellow Line into territory under Israeli military control.

The underground passage contained several rooms used by Hamas terrorists and extended across areas where IDF forces continue operating to identify and dismantle terrorist infrastructure.

The operation was conducted by engineering forces from the Gaza Division’s Southern Brigade in cooperation with the IDF’s elite Yahalom combat engineering unit. Soldiers worked to locate, seal and destroy the underground passage.

The IDF said its forces are continuing operations in southern Gaza to clear areas around the Yellow Line of remaining terrorist infrastructure. The latest tunnel was destroyed as part of those operations, with engineering units continuing to identify underground passages in the area.
