Oct 15, 2026·1 min read

A second worker has died from injuries sustained in an explosion at Intel’s manufacturing facility in Kiryat Gat, southern Israel, bringing the death toll from Wednesday’s industrial accident to two. Soroka Medical Center announced Thursday that a 49-year-old worker succumbed to his injuries after being hospitalized in serious condition.

The explosion occurred during an operation involving gas cylinders at the semiconductor manufacturing complex. Police suspect that a gas cylinder exploded, sparking a fire and leaving three workers with severe burns.

One worker died from his injuries on Wednesday, several hours after the explosion. A third worker, a man in his 20s, remains hospitalized in serious condition at Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba. Hospital officials said he was sedated and receiving assistance from a ventilator.

Intel expressed condolences to the families of the deceased workers and said it was cooperating with authorities investigating the explosion. The company also said it was providing support to affected families and employees while investigators worked to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.
