Shin Bet agents and officers from the Yamam counterterrorism unit arrested a 15-year-old Palestinian on Tuesday on suspicion that he was preparing to carry out an imminent terrorist attack in central Israel.

The suspect, who was in Israel illegally, was detained after the Shin Bet received intelligence indicating that he intended to launch an attack in the immediate future.

The intelligence prompted the deployment of a joint Shin Bet–Yamam “Tequila” team to apprehend him.

Security forces arrested the teenager in the middle of a road alongside two other Palestinians who were also in Israel illegally. A search found no weapons in their possession.

All three were transferred to the Shin Bet for questioning.
