IRAN WAR ALERT: Unusual Military Activity Detected As Netanyahu Briefs Trump; U.S. Weighs Massive New Strikes
Western intelligence agencies have detected unusual military activity inside Iran in recent days, prompting heightened monitoring by Israeli and American security officials and consultations between Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and President Donald Trump over the possibility of renewed military action against Tehran.
According to a report Thursday evening by Israel’s Channel 12 News, intelligence officials have identified unusual military movements by the Iranian regime, now led by Mojtaba Khamenei, amid mounting pressure on Tehran and concerns that hostilities with Israel and the United States could resume.
Netanyahu has personally briefed Trump on Israeli intelligence assessments and information gathered regarding the developments, the report said.
Despite the concerning activity, security officials in both countries currently assess that there is no immediate threat requiring urgent military action. Trump has also not made a decision to launch another major operation against Iran.
The latest intelligence follows reports earlier this week that Iran conducted a series of ballistic missile tests as part of efforts to rebuild its missile arsenal following damage sustained during the war.
Israeli defense officials reportedly assessed that Iran’s military rehabilitation remains partial and gradual and does not currently represent a change in the threat level sufficient to justify an immediate military operation.
However, the unusual activity has raised questions about whether Tehran is preparing for renewed confrontation, strengthening its defenses against a possible American or Israeli strike, or attempting to demonstrate military strength as diplomatic pressure intensifies.
U.S. CONSIDERS STRIKES ON NUCLEAR AND ENERGY FACILITIES
Meanwhile, the United States military continues developing operational plans for potential strikes against Iranian targets, including nuclear facilities and energy infrastructure.
According to a CNN report cited Thursday by Reuters, American military planners have examined the possible use of the GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast bomb, commonly known as the “Mother of All Bombs,” against targets in Iran.
The enormous conventional weapon is among the most powerful non-nuclear bombs in the American arsenal.
The reported planning does not mean a decision has been made to deploy the weapon or launch an attack. Reuters said it could not independently verify the details of CNN’s report.
Earlier this week, Axios reported that Netanyahu and Trump discussed the possibility of a joint military operation against Iran before Israel’s October 27 elections and the American midterm elections in early November.
According to that report, Netanyahu expressed concern about Iranian efforts to rebuild its nuclear program and presented intelligence supporting those concerns.
American officials reportedly said Trump initially considered the possibility of military action but subsequently expressed reservations about launching strikes before the elections.
The White House denied that Netanyahu and Trump discussed restarting the war in the manner described by Axios, while the Prime Minister’s Office declined to comment on the contents of their conversations.
Netanyahu himself said Wednesday in an interview with Army Radio that he was not interested in initiating an attack against Iran before the elections.
However, he made clear that Israel would respond forcefully if Iran launched an attack.
IRAN PREPARES FOR POSSIBLE RENEWED WAR
Iranian officials have also been publicly discussing the possibility of another confrontation.
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said in remarks broadcast on state television that Iran must strengthen its military readiness even as it continues pursuing diplomatic negotiations.
Recent reports have described additional defensive measures around strategic Iranian facilities and efforts to restore military capabilities damaged during the previous fighting.
Western intelligence agencies are examining whether these developments represent preparations for an offensive operation, defensive precautions against a possible American or Israeli strike, or an attempt to increase Tehran’s leverage in negotiations.
Israeli officials have reportedly emphasized that any future military operation would need to be considered within a broader strategy addressing the full range of threats posed by Iran, rather than focusing exclusively on a single component of its military or nuclear capabilities.
