David Nesenoff, the author of the best selling book, I Never Met the Rebbe Many Times, has released a new book Little Book of Big Faith. The first words of his new book are, “I’m a fake, I’m a phony.” It is a very personal story about his fight to find Bitachon, what he calls “Big Faith,” while confronting the possibility of an incurable disease.
Although he has spoken globally in hundreds of communities about embracing the detours in life and accepting that G-d is in charge, David felt like a spiritual hypocrite while facing a devastating diagnosis.
In an excerpt from his new book, Little Book of Big Faith, David Nesenoff writes: “Bitachon comes from the word ‘tach’ which means ‘plaster.’ It is the kind of faith that sticks to you without any separation. It is plastered to you so tightly that there is no room for doubt in between you and faith. I want it to stick. But it is gushing off me like a waterfall.”
Nesenoff who is known for his humorous and captivating speeches worldwide presents in Big Faith his most personal and revealing story he has ever told. It is a true recent story; and it is filled with raw and honest emotion.
Rabbi Alex Carlebach of Johannesburg, South Africa commented on Big Faith: “Amazing story! I was sitting on the edge of my chair, living through David’s emotions as he took me on a nerve-wracking journey. David Nesenoff’s honesty is an inspiration to us all.”
The noted psychiatrist and spiritual speaker, Dr. John Yaakov Guterson noted: “If you are living with excess anxiety, Big Faith is an absolute must! Written with spiritual depth, humor and love, this unique book can impact your life profoundly.”
Dr. Robert Gluck, a former surgeon and now Associate Professor at Hofstra-Northwell School of Nursing, reviewed: “Compelling! A tense and dramatic journey through a valley of darkness, with uncompromising honesty and humility.”
The Editor-in-Chief for the N’shei Chabad Newsletter, Rishe Deitsch, raved: “David’s book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean every single one of those exclamation points! David is an insanely talented writer and a chossid. Brilliant way to write a book.”
Robert Phillips, PhD., the founder and director of Center for Coping wrote:
“Most impressive was that the book is not just about the scary situation itself; it’s about the way David responded to it, found meaning in it, and used it as an opportunity for reflection and personal growth. That, to me, is a powerful coping tool and a wonderful lesson in resilience, motivation and hope.”
Yael Trusch, of the award winning podcast, Jewish Money Matters, commented on her advanced copy of the book: “Brilliant! Raw, real, and relatable! David Nesenoff takes us on a journey—messy, human, and above all, entirely possible.”
“There is an amazing correspondence with the Rebbe,” Nesenoff explains. “Also, the appearance of a natural miracle before my eyes.” The Little Book of Big Faith author concludes: “The diagnosis doesn’t matter, I will continue to speak and write about the detours in life, as I hug the very road I am on.”
David Nesenoff explains that the unique way the book was written is made for a very quick read and for those who do not have the patience to consume a huge volume while they themselves might be struggling and challenged.
Nesenoff will be in Crown Heights for the Chabad on Campus Pegisha Oct. 22-25. He will be presenting a Shabbat Welcome to the students who will be arriving from all over the world. And he will be also speaking twice on Shabbos day as well.
