Yeshivas Dor Shvi’i (YDS) Miami is enjoying an exciting start to the 5787 school year, with 45 bochurim, 10 shluchim, and an expanded team of dedicated staff. With growing enrollment, a strong learning program, and an incredible atmosphere among the bochurim, the yeshiva continues to build on its success.
Under the leadership of Dean Lonnie Richardson and Menahel Rabbi Ben Bursk, YDS continues to focus on providing a strong educational experience while ensuring that every bochur receives the individual attention and support he needs.
“Seeing the growth of YDS is extremely rewarding,” shared Dean Lonnie Richardson. “We’ve worked hard to build a yeshiva that combines a strong, mainstream learning program with dedicated staff and genuine individual attention. We want every bochur to have the opportunity to succeed, and it’s exciting to see how far we’ve come.”
The bochurim follow a structured daily schedule of Iyun, Girsa, Chassidus, and Halacha, alongside regular farbrengens, learning incentives, and individual support.
“There’s a real enthusiasm for learning this year,” shared Rabbi Mottel Zirkind, Head of Iyun. “The boys are engaged, asking questions, and pushing themselves to improve. We’re already seeing encouraging progress.”
The addition of Rabbi Shneur Pevzner as Mashpia has further strengthened the yeshiva’s staff. “What stands out at YDS is the connection between the staff and the bochurim. There’s a very positive atmosphere, and when a bochur feels supported and enjoys being in yeshiva, it makes a tremendous difference.”
Beyond the classroom, the 10 shluchim play an important role in daily yeshiva life, organizing activities, farbrengens, and programs that bring the bochurim together. With Shabbatons, trips, special incentives, and the annual New York trip ahead, there’s plenty for the bochurim to look forward to.
“What makes this year so special isn’t just the growth in numbers, but the atmosphere among the boys,” shared Menahel Rabbi Ben Bursk. “There’s a real sense of friendship, excitement, and pride in being part of YDS. We want our bochurim to enjoy their years in yeshiva, build meaningful relationships, and grow in their learning and as individuals. It’s been a fantastic start, and we’re excited for what’s ahead.”
With enrollment continuing to grow, Shiur Aleph and Shiur Gimmel are currently full, while a limited number of openings remain in Shiur Beis for the 5787 school year.
