Four young Lubavitch bochurim were honored Thursday evening at the ninth annual Jag Hasmije, held at Colel Ohel Yosef Moshe in Buenos Aires, marking the successful completion of their studies in practical Halacha and the awarding of their Smicha certificates.
The event brought together Rabbanim, family members, friends, and supporters to celebrate the graduates’ accomplishments and the continued success of the program. The program is directed by Rabbi Mendel Raijer, who also served as master of ceremonies for the evening, guiding the celebration and its various presentations. A distinctive feature of the program is that all shiurim throughout the year are delivered in Spanish, making in-depth Halachic study more accessible to the participants and enabling them to develop a clear understanding of the material in their own language.
Among the Rabbanim in attendance were Rabbi Efraim Halperin, Rabbi Dovid Plotka and Rabbi Isroel Kapelushnik who shared words of encouragement, urging the graduates to continue advancing in their Torah studies and striving for new achievements.
Two special guests joined this year’s celebration. Rabbi Shlomo Tawil, Chabad Shliach to Rosario, Argentina, traveled especially to attend the event and witness his son receive his Smicha. Rabbi Shmuel Tzabaj, director of the Kashrus Institute serving Toronto and Montreal, also participated, delivering Divrei Torah and expressing his admiration for the high level of achievement attained by such young bochurim.
Rabbi Tzabaj remarked on the distinction of the Lubavitch approach, in which young bochurim reach significant milestones in Halachic study at an age when, in many other settings, those pursuing similar qualifications are generally older avreichim.
A central highlight of the evening was the participation of the graduates themselves. Each presented a Halachic topic in Kashrus that he had studied during the year, illustrating its practical application in daily life and drawing a lesson in avodas Hashem for every Yid.
The evening also provided an opportunity to recognize those whose continued generosity and commitment help sustain the program year after year. Special thanks were extended to Reb Chaim Lapidus and Rabbi Mendel Gorowitz for their ongoing support and sponsorship.
The four graduates honored were Isroel Tawil, Daniel Cohenca, David Cohenca, and Sholem Kapelushnik.
