KEVER ROCHEL PREPARES: Thousands Expected For Rochel Imeinu’s Yahrtzeit As Special Transportation Arrangements Take Effect
Large crowds are expected to visit Kever Rochel in Beis Lechem beginning Wednesday evening, as the yahrtzeit of Rochel Imeinu on 11 Cheshvan brings mispallelim to the tzion for tefillos on behalf of Klal Yisrael and their individual needs.
Mosdos Kever Rochel has arranged 24 consecutive hours of tefillah, alongside an extensive hachnosas orchim operation and special transportation arrangements coordinated with the authorities.
Beginning Wednesday afternoon and continuing throughout the yahrtzeit, hundreds of talmidei chachamim who learn in the kollelim at Kever Rochel throughout the year will participate in rotating tefillah shifts under the leadership of HaRav Kluger.
Names and individual requests submitted to the organization’s hotline, *8631, will be included in the tefillos. Organizers have added staff to handle the anticipated volume of calls and recommend submitting names early.
Mosdos Kever Rochel also recalled the words of Maran HaRav Chaim Kanievsky, zt”l, regarding tzedakah supporting its activities, describing it as a powerful segulah through which many had experienced yeshuos.
Tens of thousands of portions of food, refreshments and drinks are being prepared for distribution at a designated hachnosas orchim area. Teams will operate throughout the day and night to assist the visiting public.
Authorities have announced special access arrangements intended to reduce traffic congestion and lengthy waits aboard buses. Private vehicles will not be permitted to enter the complex.
Dedicated buses will drop passengers near the yellow gate along the Rosmarin approach. Mispallelim will then continue along the Rachel access road, a walk of approximately 10 minutes in each direction.
Pedestrian access between the Rosmarin junction and Kever Rochel will be permitted subject to security instructions. Small vehicles will be provided to assist elderly visitors and people with disabilities.
Visitors are encouraged to travel to the western parking lot of Teddy Stadium in Yerushalayim, near Gates 8–9, where dedicated routes 662 and 663 will provide service to the designated drop-off point and back.
According to the published arrangements, service will operate during the following hours, all in Israel local time:
- Wednesday: From 3 p.m. until 6 a.m. Thursday.
- Thursday: From 9 a.m. until 10 p.m.
The dedicated routes will charge the regular urban public transportation fare. Passengers should load their Rav-Kav cards beforehand with stored value or an appropriate travel pass, as loading will not be available at the departure point.
Light rail service toward Teddy Stadium, identified in the notice as route 3L, is scheduled to continue until 2 a.m. overnight Wednesday into Thursday.
Bus routes serving Teddy Stadium include 5, 6, 9, 12, 14, 17, 18, 31, 33, 35, 77, 504, 506, 509, 516, 531 and 540, subject to their individual operating schedules.
Additional service changes listed in the notice include:
- No urban bus service to Kever Rochel on Wednesday between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., or Thursday between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m.
- The Rosmarin/Al-Safa stop, number 682, and Rosmarin/Tunnels Road stop, number 510, will be suspended beginning Wednesday at 3 p.m. and throughout Thursday’s operating hours.
- Routes 163 and 238 will not operate during the yahrtzeit arrangements.
Visitors should anticipate crowds and possible waits, follow police and stewards’ instructions, and check official updates before departing.
