Senator Bill Weber Secures $75,000 for New Sidewalks Along Williams Road in Chestnut Ridge
The Village of Chestnut Ridge is set to receive $75,000 in state funding for new sidewalks along Williams Road, following an announcement by State Senator Bill Weber as part of his 2026 discretionary CREST funding.
Senator Weber was joined by New York State Senate Minority Leader Rob Ortt and Rockland County Legislator Joel Friedman for the announcement, where village officials accepted a ceremonial $75,000 check.
Chestnut Ridge Mayor Sam Presti, Deputy Mayor Chaim Rose, and Trustees Shmuli Fromovitz, Paul Van Alstyne, and Grant Valentine expressed their appreciation for the funding, which will help address pedestrian safety concerns and improve accessibility for residents traveling along Williams Road.
“Pedestrian safety is one of our top priorities,” Weber said during the announcement. “And sidewalks are one of the most effective ways to make our roads safer.”
Senate Minority Leader Rob Ortt, who traveled from Buffalo to attend the event, praised Weber’s efforts to secure state funding for local infrastructure improvements.
“This would not have happened without the advocacy of Senator Bill Weber,” Ortt said. “That is why I’m here, to thank him and to support him in delivering this money.”
Village Trustee Shmuli Fromovitz emphasized the importance of the project, noting that residents have repeatedly raised concerns about pedestrian safety along Williams Road.
“I want to thank Senator Bill Weber for securing $75,000 in funding for desperately needed sidewalks on Williams Road,” Fromovitz said. “This grant will go a long way toward improving pedestrian safety in the area and addressing concerns that so many residents have raised.”
Deputy Mayor Chaim Rose also thanked Weber for helping the village obtain the necessary resources, saying the funding “will definitely go to good use.”
Mayor Sam Presti expressed his appreciation for Weber’s continued support of Chestnut Ridge, saying, “It is an honor and a privilege to have friends in Albany like Senator Weber.”
Village officials said the investment represents another step toward improving pedestrian safety and infrastructure throughout Chestnut Ridge.
