RARE GATHERING: HaGaon HaRav Dov Landau Meets With Working Charedim, Urges Support For UTJ

Oct 22, 2026·3 min read

HaGaon HaRav Dov Landau hosted an unusual gathering at his home in Bnei Brak on Wednesday evening, meeting with dozens of Charedi businessmen and working professionals ahead of next Tuesday’s Knesset elections.

The gathering, described as unprecedented, was organized by an unofficial Degel HaTorah campaign group known as Mateh Amelim, which seeks to strengthen support for United Torah Judaism among working Charedim.

Among those attending were prominent businessmen and community figures, including Yisrael Reisner, Chaim Goloventzitz, Shuki Feldstein, HaRav Rafael Manat, Yedidya Meir, Dovi Weinroth, and others.

The meeting followed a conversation earlier this week between HaRav Landau and HaRav Rafael Manat, who raised concerns about growing frustration among working Charedi families over their treatment by political representatives.

Some members of the community have complained that Degel HaTorah has failed to adequately address their educational and other needs, leading some to consider supporting newly established political parties.

HaRav Landau listened to their concerns before delivering a strong message urging them to remain loyal to United Torah Judaism.

The Rosh Yeshiva read aloud a letter he had written following the discussions, warning that supporting alternative Charedi parties or abstaining from voting would undermine efforts to preserve Torah education and Yiddishkeit for future generations.

He repeatedly urged those present to vote for Gimmel, emphasizing the importance of every vote in the upcoming elections.

In an unusual commitment, HaRav Landau promised to personally approach Degel HaTorah’s Knesset representatives and party leadership to address the concerns of working Charedi families.

“Bli neder, I will approach the Knesset members of Degel HaTorah and the party leadership and ask them to find ways to assist and address the educational needs and other issues that require attention,” HaRav Landau promised.

The Rosh Yeshiva also called for additional Torah shiurim to be established for working members of the Charedi community.

“You are part of the Torah world,” HaRav Landau told the participants, emphasizing that working Charedim share the same hashkafah and remain an inseparable part of the community represented by Degel HaTorah.

The gathering comes amid growing concern within United Torah Judaism over the possibility that smaller Charedi parties could draw votes away from Gimmel in the October 27 elections.

HaRav Landau has participated in several major election gatherings in recent days, including an emergency gathering of Gedolei Yisroel in Bnei Brak and a campaign trip alongside HaGaon HaRav Moshe Hillel Hirsch to Charedi communities in northern Israel.

At those gatherings, the Gedolei Yisroel emphasized the importance of voter turnout, warning that every vote could prove decisive in determining the Charedi parties’ representation in the next Knesset.
