Rockland Community College Awarded $3 Million Federal Grant To Expand Artificial Intelligence Education And Student Success
Rockland Community College (RCC) has been awarded a $3 million federal grant to launch a five-year initiative aimed at expanding artificial intelligence (AI) education, strengthening faculty and staff development, and improving student success.
The funding will allow the college to integrate AI technology into classroom instruction and academic support services, helping students develop skills needed in an increasingly technology-driven workforce.
As part of the initiative, RCC plans to use AI-enhanced tools to help students make academic progress, remain enrolled, and successfully complete their educational programs.
The project will also focus on professional development for faculty and staff, providing training and resources to help educators incorporate artificial intelligence into their teaching methods and better support students.
The five-year initiative represents a significant investment in the college’s efforts to modernize education and prepare students for emerging technological opportunities.
According to RCC, the program, known as Artificial Intelligence for Momentum (AIM), officially began October 1, 2026, and will continue through September 30, 2031. The funding comes through the federal Title III, Part A Strengthening Institutions Program.
RCC President Dr. William P. Mullaney said the investment will help the college introduce AI into classrooms, support faculty and staff, and provide students with more personalized academic assistance.
Congressman Mike Lawler also welcomed the funding, saying the investment will help prepare RCC students for a changing workforce while emphasizing the importance of responsible AI development.
The grant will cover personnel, technology, training, faculty development, student support systems, and program evaluation over the five-year period.
